Sarah Brightman is currently shooting a ‘romantic comedy’ movie along with Richard E Grant – yes its true! The movie is titled Cosi and is based on Mozart’s opera Cosi Fan Tutte.

Cosi is Directed by BAFTA winner Chris Menaul and the screenplay was apparently the last written by Sir John Mortimer, of Rumpole fame, who died in January.
Stephen Evans is the producer, whose credits include Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing and The Madness of King George. His 14 feature films have garnered 11 Oscar nominations and won two Oscars.

Sarah, who plays Celia, is no stranger to musicals having starred in the likes of ‘The Phantom of the Opera‘ but she isn’t quite so well known for her acting skills although she became a cult hit after appearing as ‘Blind Mag’ in the horror/sci-fi rock opera Repo: The genetic opera.
However, producer Selywn Roberts said that she and her fellow cast members have put in some top drawer performances so far.

Blind Mag“Obviously everyone knows Sarah has a cracking voice but she is excelling with her acting and she is a natural comedienne”.

The filming is expected to finish around Christmas time and be premiered at Cannes next year.

Rumor has it that Sarah has dug deep into her own pockets to save the £5m film from collapse, according to insiders on the movie.
Producers were facing financial difficulties and the project was in doubt right up until the last minute. But shooting is now under way at the palatial Manderston House in Berwickshire.

An insider involved in the film revealed Ms Brightman, the former Mrs Andrew Lloyd Webber and dancer in Hot Gossip, saved the day in a deal that involved up to £400,000 of her own money.

The film’s official spokeswoman Wendy Kidd initially said the producers would not discuss any aspect of the budget.
