Overdrive Island
Compulsion Overdrive is the talent and brains behind C-Tech.
C-Tech make some incredible armors, weapons, gadgets and gizmos - Cutting edge stuff in terms of design and scripting.
I’ve always loved visiting C-Tech’s store, it was clean and modern looking with some nice displays like the Mecha bursting through the store wall with machine guns blazing.
So I can’t say how excited I was when I learned Compulsion was in the process of building her own sim, Overdrive Island.
Overall:
The sim is very spacious despite being a city build, walking on the streets doesn’t give a claustophobic feeling like a lot of cities do. C-Tech’s store is obviously around the centre of the sim with the city spreading out in all directions. The skyscrapers are tall and well proportioned and among other things you will find a nightclub, various stores (including compulsion’s range of footwear) and even a dockyard.

This is without doubt one of the best builds in Second Life - Think Midnight City mixed with Bladerunner.
A futuristic city best described as Epic!.
Details:
C-Tech’s store itself has a few nice features. There is a stunning waterfall slightly below ground level as well as some nicely subtle wooden floor reflections. While neither are new to Second life, both have been executed with precision and taste.
Along the streets you’ll notice some very nice animated billboards that hover around in set paths.
Keep your eyes open for the docks.

EV Ratings:
From a design perspective this sim is outstanding, its well proportioned, finely textured and nicely lit. Its been constructed in a way that you can find the C-Tech store quickly wherever you land.

Techincally its the same story. The sim loads incredibly fast despite there being some nice scripts and effects going on.
I gave 4/5 for usability for one reason, the sim needs some seating for visitors but that minor niggle aside it should be “must visit” to everyone.
