I saw Steven Chow’s “Kung foo hustle” last night on film 4 in the UK. I had seen this movie before but forgot how funny it was.
Rather than try to write a review I’ve quoted one used on imdb.com which sums up the movie much better than I could hope to do.

Lambretta

The Swedish band, not the moped.

Sadly now defunkt (afaik) this band were shit hot and had quite a few hits before singer Linda went off on a solo career. I first saw these on TV in Sweden singing Blow my fuses and I pretty much kept my eyes on them them after that. They had numerous hits in Sweden but never seemed to expand into the UK. Our loss really.

Voice of an angel

There was a documentary on BBC the other night about The carpenters. Mainly discussing about how its now cool to like them etc but mainly concentrating on sibling rivalry and Karens (ultimately lost) battle with anorexia.

The program reminded me how much I actually do love them. I grew up listening to The Carpenters and even to this day there is no one that can match Karen Carpenters vocals. She is the greatest voice that ever lived and if you don’t believe me ask yourself how many singers you can regonise after only hearing 2 notes.
