Linden Lab ROTFL

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse or that Linden Lab couldn’t make any more dumbass moves we get this:

http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/10/29/price-for-new-private-islands-to-increase/

Previously a private island or server would have cost you an investment of $1250 and a monthly fee of $195.
Now it will cost you an initial payment of $1675 and a monthly fee of $295.
An increase of $425/$100 respectively.

All this move does, is make my prediction that Second Life will become a corporate and commercial medium more realistic. Creativity from individuals and small concerns will be driven out and replaced with the likes of Nike, adidas, etc.

What use is 1 million accounts if none of them spend money any more, or tell their friends to avoid SL like the plague.

Symantec UK robbing customers?

Looking for new AV software lead me to Symantec’s website (obviously) but what I found when I got there was a little upsetting and slightly disturbing.

First we have Symantec USA.

Go here and look at the price. $39.99

SL Models

There is an article here written by Alaska Metropolitan about body proportion - while the information isn’t specific to SL and its generally regarded as an “ideal”, it is useful to anyone in SL wanting to make their own shape look good (and not have to pay $400L for a no mod shape as some people are selling).

One thing however the article doesn’t touch on is appearance.
A potential model should be aware that she is nothing more than a clothes horse - its the clothes that matter , not you.

One thing I see in reviews on blogs all the time is stuff like this (no disrespect to the “model” in question here):

piercings
Piercings like this are a big no no.

Many people (myself included) really dislike this look and my initial reaction to these images is Yuk! close the window.
So what you say? Thats just your opinion, don’t judge a book by its cover, Xtina says I’m beautiful.

Thats true but what about the product being advertised or shown off?
I am one potential sale that didnt even study the skin on sale here - without the piercings I may have bought it, with them I definately wont.

I think of that skin and I see lumps of metal and rings all over.

How many RL top models do you know with a face full of piercings? I can’t actually think of any and there is a reason for that. You are selling a product, not yourself.

1 million residents in SL

Due to an article appearing on yahoo’s tech page, SL is pretty fucked right now. They shot past the 1 million residents mark with the bonus that every system - website, blog, game suffered (and suffers) from a total overload.

Of course these numbers are really just fluff because since LL dropped CC verification most accounts created since that point were alts.

check their official blog for some of the happy and many more unhappy comments from paying residents.
